Promote healthy behaviour among your staff

When talking about a healthy lifestyle, many of you will immediately think about dieting and losing weight. So, what does a healthy lifestyle have anything to do with improving your business? A healthy lifestyle is not all about a physical change. A healthy mind is as important as a healthy body, especially in the business world.

Promoting healthy behaviour has several advantages for both your employees and your business.

1. Fight diseases
When your staff has a healthy lifestyle, they are less likely to become ill. Meaning there will be less sick leaves over a longer period of time. Isn’t that amazing?

2. Boost energy level
Have you ever noticed your employees lacking energy after a few hours of work? This might be the result of unhealthy decisions they take in their daily life. When alternating some of those in healthier ones, your employees will automatically feel more energetic.

3. Combat stress
Stress is a common problem in the workplace. The phenomenon is caused by a combination of several factors. Lack of sleep for example is one of the main elements that can cause stress. Not enough breaks while performing work is another one. Create a healthy workplace and motivate your employees to get enough rest. In this way, the level of stress will decline and your employees will be happier (aka more productive.)

4. Enhance productivity
As mentioned before, when living a healthy lifestyle, the brain will be more at peace which, in the end, will result in more productivity among your staff members. To help you start promoting healthy behaviour among your staff members, I wrote down some easy ways to keep everyone healthy and happy.

 Provide healthy food options: a scale of fresh fruit, healthy meals in the canteen, water, ....
 Grant enough breaks: allow your employees to go outside for 5 minutes every hour, introduce walking meetings, ….
 Clean regularly: empty the trash bins, a clean workplace equals a clean mind.
 Promote: Laughing, socializing and getting enough sleep!

There are so many different options for people to inhabit healthier decisions in their life. Help your employees discover the benefits of these small changes. You will see, it only has positive effects.
